The Air-Ports Customs Directorate at Customs Affairs, in cooperation and coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, has arrested a number of Asian nationals for attempting to traffic 3.35 kilograms of marijuana, with an estimated value of BHD 16,750.
The Directorate explained that customs officers at Bahrain International Airport became suspicious of a passenger upon his arrival. He was immediately referred to the red channel, where a search of his luggage led to the discovery of 3.35 kilograms of a substance suspected to be marijuana, concealed inside food containers.
The Air-Ports Customs Directorate confirmed that the seized narcotics were confiscated, and the case was referred to the Anti-Narcotics Directorate. Following investigations and the identification of the suspects, the individuals involved were arrested in the Kingdom for their connection to the case.
Legal procedures have been taken, and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
